About Me
Hi, I’m Helen — and I’m passionate about helping women move through perimenopause and menopause feeling strong, informed, and in control.
My journey into women’s health didn’t start in midlife. I began working in the fitness industry at 18, teaching group exercise classes and coaching personal training clients. Movement was my happy place. But in my mid-30s, about 7 years after having my daughter, things started to shift. I felt constantly fatigued, my body stopped responding the way it always had, and for the first time I felt disconnected from it. At the time, I didn’t realise this was likely the early signs of perimenopause — I just knew something felt off.
Around then, life got busy in the way it does for so many women. My daughter began competitive dancing, which meant long weekends travelling up and down the country, sitting around sports halls, surviving on convenience food and sugar highs. Five years later, on my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. I followed every medical instruction — surgery, chemotherapy — and when I was given the all-clear, I jumped straight back into a stressed-out life and a diet that wasn’t supporting my body. Five years after that, the cancer returned, and I was told there were no further treatment options.
That moment changed everything.
I went deep into learning — nutrition, movement, lifestyle, and how the body truly responds to what we feed it. Exercise and food became tools again, not punishments. Under medical supervision, my tumours began to reduce, and I saw first-hand just how powerful nutrition and muscle can be in supporting the body. That experience inspired me to retrain as a Functional Nutritionist, with one clear mission: to help women fuel their bodies for strength, resilience, and long-term health.
That’s how Muscle Momentum was born.
I don’t work with Instagram perfection. I work with real women — busy, tired, brilliant women — who want to understand what’s happening in their bodies during perimenopause and menopause, and learn how to eat, train, and live in a way that supports this stage of life. I want every woman to know that muscle matters, that menopause is a transition — not a decline — and that while your body may be changing, your standards don’t have to.
You are not broken. You are evolving. And you deserve to feel powerful doing it. Let’s start building Momentum!
